Case Studies

Who doesn’t want a more open and airy floorplan? And you can have it even with your existing 1950s home. The owners wanted a few additional elements, an en-suite in place of the bathroom with a linen cupboard and a brand new kitchen/dining room.

This open plan living extension opens onto a large deck surrounded by the garden.
The original kitchen made way for a luxurious en-suite bathroom and the hallway was widened in order to accommodate a European Laundry and extra cupboard space.

This home has been rewired and retrofitted with insulation in order to increase the thermal efficiency of the home and allows for ongoing savings on utility bills.

Works started with a partial demolition to the back of this period weatherboard house. An improved ground floor addition was added and the existing kitchen made way for the new third bedroom.

From the new pristine second bathroom with its crisp white tiled walls and floating vanity to the light filled spacious living area and  simple Scandinavian inspired two toned kitchen, the new addition was seamless.

Taking full advantage of the North facing sunlight, a decked undercover alfresco was added accessed by large stacking doors.  Through clever design, a built in study nook was created without infringing on the natural flow of the open floor plan.

Coburg #3

This weatherboard Californian Bungalow, although filled with character, lacked the functional living space this family craved. After a consultation with Supa Group, the decision to extend and renovate became the right choice in improving this family’s lifestyle.

In brief, the aim was to convert this three-bedroom, one bathroom house into a spacious four-bedroom, two-bathroom family home with a new open plan kitchen, dining and living area that led to an undercover alfresco.

Works began with the removal of an old “Granny flat” like add on and the garage clearing the way for the new ground floor extension.

Existing living and kitchen area was converted into a generous airy master bedroom with ensuite and WIR and the main bathroom was delightfully renovated in a rejuvenating pastel shade of green to match the ensuite.

Featuring a multi-functional floor plan, the new extension produced visually stunning spaces highlighted by a timeless monochrome kitchen with a cleverly designed walk-in pantry with external access, allowing those grocery bags to be transferred from boot to pantry in a snap!

Flanking the kitchen, was the inviting living area with its gas log fire place which opened up to the outdoor undercover alfresco area through versatile stacker doors.

The overall thermal efficiency of the existing home was improved with double glazed windows, insulation and new cladding.

To finish the entry and hall tiles were replaced with Victorian Ash floorboards blending existing and new spaces seamlessly.

Coburg North

Although this family loved their Coburg home and eagerly anticipated the annual visit of parents from the UK, the home lacked the space for them all to live comfortably under one roof for lengthy periods of time.

With a growing trend towards multi-generational living, house extensions are becoming more popular. An extension affords families the space and versatility for shared accommodation and can be customized to suit everyone’s needs.

The brief was to extend the house, create separate sleeping and living quarters for the parents, whilst still providing a floorplan that was conducive to a comfortable lifestyle without fear of losing privacy.

The old undercover entertaining area made way for the ‘Parents Wing’ which comprised of a private living area, wet bar with a meals area and access to the spacious bedroom with bespoke BIR and luxe ensuite.

The extensions distinct design was not only creative but smart with both the living area and the ‘Parents wing’ having independent access via double glazed stacking doors to the charming rear garden.

Minor modification was made to the existing home implementing an attic space with a retractable ladder; a trending storage solution.

All members of the family were delighted with the end result. A home that was not only beautiful and functional but provided them all with the space to live harmoniously.
