The Final Inspection
This was a family that clearly valued time spent together by wanting to add significant additional living space to the rear of their home with a stylish and functional blend of indoor/outdoor living. The alfresco opening from their new kitchen was most likely the family’s favorite part.
The design process required the entire outdoor element to be considered and integrated with the internal requirements. The kitchen and study areas at the rear were relocated and a large sitting room with a central fireplace was added. The study was relocated to the rear of the sitting room.
As a result of Supa Group’s creative design, the sitting room, study, living room and kitchen have outlooks and access into two separate and private, external, covered areas. The result is a very large and functional internal space highly suited for grand-style entertaining both inside and out. In addition, the kitchen design included windows opening to an external servery direct to the covered alfresco area facilitating full use of the outdoor cooking opportunities.
Often times, ground floor extensions fuse classic and contemporary designs. This lovely period weatherboard home is a great example.
The design focused on clean and simple open spaces and allowed the edgy polished concrete floor become the hero of the room.
Two large stacking doorways were an integral part of the design. They not only allowed an abundance of natural light in, but once fully open, became an entertainer’s delight.
Works started with a partial demolition to the back of this period weatherboard house. An improved ground floor addition was added and the existing kitchen made way for the new third bedroom.
From the new pristine second bathroom with its crisp white tiled walls and floating vanity to the light filled spacious living area and simple Scandinavian inspired two toned kitchen, the new addition was seamless.
Taking full advantage of the North facing sunlight, a decked undercover alfresco was added accessed by large stacking doors. Through clever design, a built in study nook was created without infringing on the natural flow of the open floor plan.
