"Yarra Council, or as it is more famously know, the People’s Republic of Yarra is an inner-city local government area directly to the north east of Melbourne’s CBD.
Named well for its location alongside much of the lower reaches of the Yarra River it contains the suburbs of Burnley, Cremorne, Richmond, Collingwood, Fitzroy, Fitzroy North, Carlton, Carlton North, Clifton Hill and parts of Fairfield and Alphington.
All of these suburbs represent the earliest buds of Melbourne’s growth and consist of mid to late Victorian houses, a combination of detached homes and terraces. Hiding in behind the facades of these homes are the bluestone cobbled laneways that used to service the night carts prior to proper sanitation being introduced.

"Fun Fact: The southern portion of Fitzroy was originally called NewTown and Collingwood extended right across to what is now Carlton North. There was a stockade located where the Lee St Primary School is now located that was called the Collingwood Stockade.
One of the original tracks out of Melbourne is Brunswick Road that runs into Queens Parade and then Heidelberg Road. There is a couple of significant creeks to cross along this route including the Merri Creek and Darebin Creek on the border of Ivanhoe which is at the northern tip of the Yarra Council area.
The leafy environs around Alphington and Fairfield as it hugs the Yarra have some beautiful heritage homes and gardens. The Alphington Paper Mills have recently been developed and that 50 acre site is almost a suburb in itself.
These parts of the Yarra Council are well known to Supa Group and we have been extending houses in these suburbs for decades."
