Yes. You must obtain a building permit issued by the registered building surveyor for extension projects in your Hawthorn home. This is the last step taken prior to construction. In some cases, such as adding floor overlays or strata tiles to your home, the local council will need to approve these changes. This is called planning permission.
Normally, our clients can reside in their homes while our extension builders get to work. However, if we are unable to grant you safe access to areas of the home, such as the kitchen, bathroom or toilet, then you will need to find temporary accommodation elsewhere. We will do our best to cause the least inconvenience to your daily routine.
If you have a team of builders or specialists in mind for the job, let us know. We’re happy to collaborate with contractors across Melbourne. However, they must meet our safety standards and provide the necessary insurance and OH&S credentials. We will also ensure that they can meet all deadlines set out for the project.
Yes, we can add extensions to heritage homes. However, this process will require extensive planning and permissions. With our experience in the industry, we can work closely with the Boroondara city council to ensure all permissions are in place.
We aim to preserve the heritage home’s original structural integrity while modernising the space with seamless one-storey or two-storey extensions or house renovations for growing and elderly families.
