"Boroondara Council is a local government area to the east of the Melbourne CBD.
The northern reach of the council is the Yarra River which for most part has the Eastern Freeway running along it and where the suburbs of Kew, East Kew, Balwyn and Balwyn North are located.
These suburbs contain a mix of housing styles but the suburb of Kew in particular around the Studley Park area to the west of Princes St has examples of some of Melbourne’s earliest grand suburban homes. Other similar examples are dotted throughout the council in suburbs such as Hawthorn and Camberwell where the wealth of Victoria from the Gold Rush is on full display with beautiful homes and allotments.
The western reaches of the council follow’s the Yarra to the junction of Gardiner’s Creek. The South Eastern Freeway runs along this creek line down to Ashburton and beyond.
John Gardiner was one of the first overlanders from NSW having walked his cattle from NSW and establishing a homestead in 1836 on the grounds of Scotch College alongside the Yarra River in Hawthorn."
"The eastern boundary runs along Warrigal Road from Gardiners Creek through to the Yarra River.
This is a council area well serviced in every respect by buses, trams and trains. It has wonderful soil resulting in a beautiful leafy tree canopy for which the council is well known. It also has gently rolling hills giving it a spacious feel.
The street layout is largely determined by Bridge Road Richmond where it crosses the Yarra. This was originally the site of a punt. Once crossed you could turn left along High St, through Kew and beyond to Warrandyte, one of Victoria’s earliest gold fields. The other main road once you cross the Bridge was to Burwood with the early market gardens servicing Melbourne.
This is a fabulous municipality and over Supa Group’s 50 years in business we would have extended hundreds of home in the council district. We enjoy a healthy working relationship with Boroondarra Council who are efficient at turning around planning applications and dispensations."
