Yes, you will need to obtain a permit issued by the registered building practitioner for significant extension projects. This is the last step in the process before construction commences. In some cases, if you’re adding floor overlays or strata tiles to your home, council approval will also be needed. This is called planning permission.
Usually, our clients can stay in their homes while we get to work. However, if we cannot grant you safe access to areas of your home, such as the kitchen or bathroom, you will need to find temporary alternative accommodation. We will do our best to cause the least inconvenience possible.
If you have a team of builders you have worked with before, let us know. We’re happy to collaborate with contractors across Melbourne. We will ensure they meet our safety standards, provide the necessary insurance and OH&S credentials, and can meet the deadlines provided for your build.
Yes, we can add extensions to heritage and grand historic homes. However, this process required extensive planning and permission to go ahead. Thanks to our experience, we can work closely with the Boroondara city council to ensure all permissions are in place before the build.
