What Is The Typical Process For A Renovation?

Does your house need a revamp? Is it time to add a second storey? Even if it’s a small renovation, you will still need to go through certain processes before you can begin with your new dream house.

Here is what a typical renovation process looks like:

1. Consultation& Site Visit

As with any major project, it all begins with a discussion about what you’re looking to achieve, a potential budget, timeline and other key design considerations in the initial stage. It’s important that you not only convey your ideas, but also take into consideration any suggestions provided to you.

2. 3D Model (Concept plans)

After meeting with you, your design consultant will prepare a 3D model of what your “new” home will look like.

3. Contract & Working Drawings

Supa Group will calculate the cost of construction and present this to you along with the concept plans. By doing this you understand exactly what is going to be constructed and the fixed cost of doing your house extension.

4. Council Approval & Certification

In some instances, planning approval from the Council is required before a building permit can be issued from your building surveyor. Supa Group can help with all aspects of the planning system, including dispensations when necessary.

5. Building Works

Once the permit is in place, building works can commence and your renovation is underway. Our building department can commence demolition and begin work on the ground floor or double storey extension. Your supervisor will keep you informed of the progress on the job and work with you to get the best result possible.

6. Final Walk-Through

When works are complete, the building surveyor will issue their Certificate of Final Inspection. There will be a handover meeting with you and the building department to go over the works and to sign off the works. And if you have any issues in the future, don’t worry, Supa Group will be there to help.
