Yes, you will need to obtain a building permit issued by the registered building surveyor for significant home extension projects. If you’re adding elements such as floor overlays, heritage overlays or strata tiles to your property, the local council will need to accept any changes. This is called planning permission.
In most cases, you will be able to remain in your home while the extension project goes ahead. However, if we cannot grant you safe access to the kitchen, bedroom or toilet, you will need to find temporary accommodation instead. We will plan our project carefully and ensure it causes the least disruption to your routine possible.
Our team can collaborate with any specialists or contractors you choose. Before working with them, they must meet our safety standards and provide us with the necessary insurance and OH&S credentials. They must also be able to meet the deadline set for your project.
Yes, but adding extensions to a heritage-listed home does require comprehensive planning and permissions. We will work closely with the Banyule council to streamline the process of approvals.
