Yes. You will need to obtain a building permit issued by the registered building surveyor for significant extension projects on your Ivanhoe home. This is the last step prior to the commencement of construction. In some cases, if you’re adding flood overlays or strata tiles to your home, the local council will need to be advised to approve any changes. This is called planning permission.
Usually, our clients can stay in their homes while our extension builders conduct their work. However, if we are unable to grant you safe access to the kitchen, bedroom or toilet, then you will need to find temporary accommodation elsewhere. We do our best to plan meticulously and ensure you are caused the least inconvenience during our extension build.
If you have a team of builders or specialists in mind, let us know. We’re happy to collaborate with high-quality Melbourne contractors. However, they must meet our safety standards and provide the necessary insurance and OH&S credentials. We will also make sure that they can commit to meeting the deadlines we have set for your extension project.
Yes, we can add extensions to heritage homes. However, the process takes comprehensive planning and permissions to go ahead. Our experience in the industry means we can work closely with the Banyule council to complete any application processes required.
