Yes, if you are adding significant extensions to your property, you must obtain a permit issued by a registered building practitioner. This is the last step in the process before we can start building. In some cases, such as if you’re adding strata tiles to your property, council approval is also needed. This is called planning permission.
Normally, clients can stay in their homes while we complete the home renovations or extensions. However, if we cannot grant you safe access to areas of the home, such as the bathroom or kitchen, you may need to find temporary accommodation elsewhere.
If you have previously worked with contractors or home renovators that you trust, let our team know. We’re always happy to collaborate with other building specialists across Melbourne. We’ll ensure they meet our safety standards, provide the appropriate insurance and OH&S credentials, and are willing to meet all deadlines for the project.
You can add one or two-storey home extensions to a Wantirna heritage property. However, the project may take extensive planning and council permission. That’s why our team will work closely with the Knox city council to obtain all relevant permits before the build begins.
