Yes. To complete significant extensions on your Watsonia home and add more room to your whole house, you will need to obtain a building permit issued by the registered building surveyor. This is the last step prior to the commencement of construction. In certain instances, such as flood overlays, heritage overlays or strata tiles, the council need to be advised and must approve any changes, this is known as planning permission.
In most cases, it is fine for you to remain in your home while we work. However, if we cannot grant you safe access to areas of your home, such as the kitchen, bedroom or toilet, temporary accommodation will need to be found. Our team aims to plan the extension build in a way that causes the least possible disruption to your daily routine.
We’re happy to collaborate with any contractors you may know or have worked with in the past. However, we must first ensure that they meet our safety standards and provide us with updated insurance and OH&S credentials. We will also ask them if they can meet the project deadlines we have set out.
Yes, but it will need comprehensive planning and permissions to go ahead. We will work closely with the Banyule council to complete the process correctly and efficiently. When working on heritage homes in Watsonia, we aim to preserve their original structural integrity while providing seamless extensions to enhance the property’s look and feel.
