Yes. For significant home extensions in Carnegie, you must obtain a building permit issued by the registered building surveyor. This is the last step in the process before construction commences. However, adding elements such as floor overlays or strata tiles to your home will also require council approval. This is called planning permission.
Usually, it is fine for you to reside in your home while we conduct our work. However, if we cannot grant you safe access to major areas of your home, such as the kitchen, bedroom or toilet, you must find temporary accommodation. We will plan carefully to ensure the least amount of disruption is caused during the extension or house renovation process.
