Planning and building permit applications can be a headache. However, Supa Group’s professional team are familiar with Manningham council’s regulations and will organise all correct documentation so that you don’t have to worry.
You can enjoy focusing on creating your ideal home with our expert designers.
Manningham Council comprises Bulleen, Doncaster, Doncaster East, Donvale, Nunawading, Park Orchards, Ringwood North, Templestowe, Templestowe Lower, Warrandyte, Warrandyte South and Wonga Park.
When thinking of these suburbs, there’s an interesting sense of calm that comes over me. A lot of this has to do with the proximity to the Yarra River which forms most of the northern most boundary of the council. It’s an incredibly verdant council which is testament to the beautiful soils that once supported orchards and dairy farms. Old scenes of Doncaster and Templestowe with their rolling hills and paddocks immediately come to mind.
A great day out is a visit to Petty’s Orchard in Templestowe with it’s magnificent collection of heritage fruit trees. There’s over 250 varieties of apples as well as plum, apricots and pears.
Another hint of how life was not so long ago is gained through a visit to the Heide Museum of Modern Art. An old dairy farm run by John and Sunday Reed in the 1930’s, now owned by Parks Victoria. The original homestead is now an art gallery but it doesn’t take a lot of imagination to understand exactly how it was when the Reed’s were living there.
The Southern boundary runs along the Eastern Freeway, and the major thorougfares running east west are Manningham Road and Doncaster Road. Crossing these are Thompsons, Williamsons, Blackburn and Springvale Roads.
Now forming part of the middle ring of Greater Melbourne Manningham and its suburbs offer great lifestyle options for families and housing stocks redolent of the 1960’s and the post WW2 construction boom. Some of the subdivisions around Templestowe, Donvale and Warrandyte with their large blocks contain trophy homes with majestic gardens. Sometime’s there’s even room for a pony.

Building permit applications are very involved- there's a lot of paperwork that needs to be included so why not enlist our highly experienced and knowledgeable team to complete the application on your behalf. In addition, you can go to the building permit process page on Manningham City Council’s website for specific information.
Here is a brief overview of what the process entails:
If your property is heritage-listed, additional paperwork is required. Go to how to build on or renovate your heritage-listed property, or speak with our knowledgable and reliable team. We are familiar with council restrictions and procedures for these types of renovations. The council may also require public input into your extension plans in rare situations. No matter what, our experts are with you through the whole process to ensure we achieve a positive outcome.
It is most likely that you do.
Any building work that includes repair, alterations, or extensions to your home requires a building permit submitted before the commencement of any proposed work. Building permits are obtained from independent Building Surveyors but sometimes planning consent is required from Manningham City Council. If your home has a special overlay such as a Heritage overlay consent will be required from the council, prior to issuing a building permit.
You can visit the Victorian Building Authority to view all requirements and exemptions. The Manningham Planning Scheme also details specific guidelines correlating to your property.
