Professional small builder/renovator
Suppose you’ve decided to create more space for your family and extend or renovate your existing house in the eastern suburbs. In some instances, you will need to submit a planning permit application to the Whitehorse City Council.
Supa Group’s experts are knowledgeable about the council planning process for residential building projects. We understand how stressful organising this paperwork can be, so we'll take care of it for you. Our professional building surveyors will submit your permits on your behalf so you can focus on the design details for your stunning renovation or extension.
Whitehorse Council derives its name from a white horse statue located outside the first hotel and double storey building in the 1850’s.
As a child it was a memorable experience being a passenger in my parents car driving along Maroondah Highway to Ringwood and seeing the white horse that remains as a symbol of the council to this day.
Whitehorse Council sits snugly along Eastlink, hugging the Mullum Mullum Creek to the north and Dandenong Creek/Heatherdale Road to the east. The western boundary is with Boroondara Council along Warrigal Road and Highbury Road is the southern boundary where it abuts Monash Council.
Suburbs in the council are much sought after residential areas and include Blackburn, Box Hill, Burwood, Forest Hill, Mitcham, Mont Albert, Nunawading, Surrey Hills and Vermont.
Those suburbs closer to the Melbourne CBD such as Mont Albert and Surrey Hills are regarded as inner eastern and contain large blocks with Edwardian and 1930’s homes. Box Hill was the very edge of the growth of suburbia until the 1950’s and the area originally full of orchards and small farming operations gave way to housing.
These days Box Hill is largely unrecognizable compared to 30 years ago and is a CBD in its own right with many residential towers dotted along Whitehorse Road. It has great amenity in the form of public transport and the Whitehorse Road tram was extended from Union Road, Balwyn some 20 years ago through to Box Hill.
Over the years Supa Group have built hundreds of home extensions in the Whitehorse Council and we love working on the character homes in this council.
Fun Fact: Schwerkholt Cottage, built 1884 is a museum complex consisting of rude stonework and outbuildings. It is located in Mitcham just off Deep Creek Road and abuts the Eastlink Freeway. It is typical of the era of German Immigration into Victoria and a great place to visit.
