The clients were not looking for a loud and contrasting extension.
They loved their character filled weatherboard house but desperately needed more space for their two children.
The new extension not only had to blend sympathetically with the period features but also provide a more modern approach internally to design and layout.
An upper floor extension was an easy decision. It allowed a functional and spacious ‘zoned’ area to be created, with only a corner fireplace making way for the new staircase, minimising the impact to the ground floorplan.
Going up; the new second storey extension greeted you with an open common ‘hangout’ area. Designed to optimise the use of space; the extension also featured two generous bedrooms serviced by a main bathroom with even a separate all purpose room that doubled as a study or spare bedroom.
On completion, the new house was now a beautiful and more spacious home that was not only seamless but had great street appeal.
